Vincent "Coop" Cannata Jr.
Vincent J. “Coop” Cannata Jr., 68, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Perth Amboy, Coop grew up in Sayreville and attended St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy graduating in 1966. Following high school, Coop resided in Iselin before settling to Piscataway 40 years ago.
He worked at JFK Medical Center followed by the Alliance Distribution Center both in Edison for many years prior to retiring.
A devout catholic, Coop was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Piscataway and was a 3rd Degree member as well as an honorary lifetime member of the South Amboy Knights of Columbus Council 426.
He was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan, but what he cherished the most was the time he spent with his family at home enjoying each other’s company and just being together.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 46 years Connie of Piscataway; daughter, Cristi Spina and her husband Mike of Hummelstown, PA; sons, Nicholas of Somerset and Kevin of Piscataway; granddaughter Scarlett; sister, Judy Sprague of Sayreville; sister in law and brother in law Karen and Mike Frangos of Edison; nephew Joe Frangos of South Plainfield and niece and nephew Susan Sprague Lee and Douglas Sprague both of Sayreville. Caitlyn Higgins, Erika Guerron, and Deborah Talley his long time aide held a special place in Coop’s heart.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 16, at 9:15AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield followed by a 10:30AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Piscataway.
Cremation Services will take place privately.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2-6pm in the funeral home.
