Mary Kerrigan
Kendall Park – Mary E. (Hughes) Kerrigan, 76, formerly of Middlesex, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in the Vailsburg section of Newark to the late Peter and Honora (Rogers) Hughes, Mary lived in Middlesex for forty-two years before moving to Kendall Park in 2010.

Before starting her family, Mary worked for the phone company and Essex County Social Services. Upon returning to the work force, Mary worked as a Library Associate at Rutgers University Libraries for twenty seven years before retiring in 1999. A communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #306, she loved reading, going to the beach, flying kites, and working on ceramics. Mary enjoyed cruises and traveling with her husband, especially to Europe and Bermuda, but her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren.

Predeceased by three siblings; Catherine Hughes, Helen Meyers and Ann Marie Rappleyea, Mary is survived by her husband of fifty-five years; Joseph A. and their children; Joseph Patrick Kerrigan and his wife Jennifer of Brielle and Anne Kerrigan Butman and her husband James of Kendall Park. She will be missed by her two cherished grandchildren; Emily Butman and Padraig Kerrigan along with her brother Peter Hughes of Interlaken and her much loved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm and on Friday, December 8, 2017 beginning 8:45 am.
