

Obituary of Harry Jacobs
South Plainfield - Harry Jacobs, 79, passed away early Friday morning, May 9, 2025 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Jersey City, Harry is a lifelong resident of South Plainfield, graduating from South Plainfield High School in 1964. In his younger years, Harry worked at the Edison Drive-In Movie Theater. He retired from the Lyons VA Medical Center where he held the position of Assistant to the Masons for almost 25 years.
A shooting enthusiast, Harry was a long-time member and coach at the Lake Island Rifle Club of Carteret. An instrumental part of their organization, Harry taught and trained youth members of the Junior Club, which won many titles throughout the years. He was also a known recruiter for the NRA, attending their gun shows and earning the title of “Top Recruiter” for five consecutive years.
Known as “Harry the Hat” to many friends, Harry also shot with the Green Brook Valley Police League and enjoyed taking long rides as well as camping.
Predeceased by his two sisters, surviving are his wife, Judith (Fuchs) Jacobs; two children, Karin Myers and husband Robert and David Jacobs and wife Ashley. He will also be missed by his three cherished grandchildren, Mark, Luke and Morgan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 10AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by entombment in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge,
Family and friends may gather on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 4-7PM as well as on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 beginning at 9:30AM.
