Obituary of Eleanor Kaufman

South Plainfield – Eleanor Kaufman, 94, passed away Thursday Morning, June 26, 2025.

Born in South Plainfield, Eleanor spent most of her life in the surrounding communities of Plainfield and North Plainfield, before returning to South Plainfield in 2023. In her younger years, she worked at her family’s store, Herbs Market, and later at Sleepy Hollow Luncheonette.

She was a beloved matriarch; Eleanor was the heart of her family and cherished her grandchildren dearly. She was also a dedicated community member; serving as Past President of the Plainfield Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary and was actively involved with the North Plainfield Seniors.

Predeceased by her husband, Stanley H. Kaufman; daughter, Gail Kaufman Cain; granddaughter, Lisa DelNegro; daughter in law, Colleen Kaufman; son in law, David Campbell; and siblings, Agnes, Jenny, Frances, Helen, Rosie, Anna, Irene, Stanley and Joseph; surviving are her children, Nancy Campbell and Thomas Kaufman and wife Terri and son in law, Gordan Cain and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Scott Campbell and wife Ana, Stephen Campbell and wife Erica, Heather Kaufman and Jackie Kaufman and great grandchildren, Amelia, Hailey, Camila, Aly and Marlyn.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 30, 2025 in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 from 4-8PM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 11AM in the funeral home, family and friends may gather at 10:15AM.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
