Michael A. Farinella, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 16, 2026, at his home in South Plainfield, NJ.

Born to the late John and Grace Farinella in Montclair, NJ, Mike has spent most of his life in South Plainfield after moving to town at seven years old. Following his graduation from South Plainfield High School in 1984, Mike went on to attend Rutgers University, attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. After entering the work force for a few years, he went back to school to earn his J.D. from the Western New England School of Law.

Professionally, Mike worked for Dunn and Bradstreet, and, thereafter, went on to work for MetLife Insurance in Bridgewater.

Outside of work Mike enjoyed time traveling and had a love for classic cars. His cars were his true passion, working on and collecting vehicles from all years and eras and a variety of makes and models.

Predeceased by his parents, John T. Farinella, Sr. and Grace (nee Barna) Farinella, Mike is survived by his brother, John T. Farinella Jr. and his wife, Dawn, and his nieces and nephew, Lynda, Julianna, and Nicholas. He will also be missed by a host of extended relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 120 Kosciusko Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 10:30 AM.

Following mass, burial will take place at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
