Obituary of Virginia Gallo

Virginia Gallo, known to her family and friends as Woogie and Ginny, passed away on April 1, 2024 at the age of 103 (and a half).

Born in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, Woogie grew up in Canarsie. She resided in New York her entire life before relocating to Middlesex, NJ nearly 28 years ago.

Often asked what her secret was, she’d say you have to have a sense of humor and famiglia! She stayed true to that mantra and lived a long life surrounded by family until the end. 

She is survived by her daughters, Christine and Ginna, and their husbands,Tom and Mike; son, Bruce and wife Francine; her six grandchildren, Michael, Christine, Nicole,Thomas, Jessica and Jonathan and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Kayla.

She is preceded by a lifetime’s worth of loved ones, including her parents, brother and sisters, husband Nick, and sons Anthony and John.

Woogie will be laid to rest on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 12pm at Calverton National Cemetery 210 Princeton Blvd. Calverton, NY 11933.
