Obituary of Nicholas DellaVentura

Blairstown - Nicholas DellaVentura, 86, died Thursday September 21, 2017 surrounded by his family at home. Born and raised in Plainfield, Nicholas resided in Plainfield for 39 years then South Plainfield for almost 45 years before relocating to Blairstown. An honorable discharged Veteran of the United States Marines, he proudly served our country during the Korean War. He was also a 53 year member of the Plainfield Local 255 Carpenter's Union. Nicholas enjoyed gardening and was dedicated to his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years who died in 2005, Rose; surviving are his three children, Sandra Swinick and husband John of Somerset, Diane Wolff and husband Robert of Blairstown and Nicholas Jr. and wife Nancy of Saylorsburg, PA; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday September 27, 2017 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church at 10AM. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend visitation on Tuesday from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
