Laura Mae (Brown) Willard, Teacher, Legal Assistant
South Plainfield - Laura Mae Willard of South Plainfield died peacefully on March 28, 2016.
Born on October 26, 1941 in Coudersport, PA to Raymond and Jeanette Brown, she spent her formative years in Berwick, PA, graduating from Berwick High School in 1959. After graduating from Bloomsburg (PA) University in 1963, she became a Business Education teacher at Westfield High School, where she taught for four years, eventually leaving to raise her family. After returning to the workforce, she served as a legal assistant for about 35 years in four Central New Jersey law firms.
She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in South Plainfield and an avid bridge player. During her retirement years, she enjoyed reading, needlework and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John "Jack" Willard; daughters, Julie Sauer (David) of Tigard OR and Betsy Lytle (Jim) of Matthews, NC; mother, Jeanette Brown of Clarks Summit, PA; sisters, Susan Keisling of Clarks Summit, PA and Bonnie Campbell of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, William Brown of Wasilla, AK; and grandchildren, Meredith and Gabriel Sauer and Maggie and Audrey Lytle.
Cremation is private.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11AM in Wesley United Methodist Church, 1500 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Wesley United Methodist Church.
