Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
South Plainfield - Helen M. (Jankoski) D'Amico, 95, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in South Plainfield, Helen resided in the Borough for over 60 years before relocating to Piscataway in 1985. A former communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield, Helen was also a member of their Altar Rosary Society for a number of years. Helen was a wonderful cook who enjoyed sharing her recipes with her family. Three of her specialties were apple pie, Hungarian goulash and pasta "Fazool". She was generous in everything she did, including her willingness to babysit at any time because she loved children. Her grandchildren meant everything to her and she was delighted in listening to their stories as well as offering wise advice as they grew into their teen years. While working at Roosevelt School as a duty aid, she took a personal interest in each child under her supervision which went above and beyond her professional obligations. She will be missed beyond measure, but has left behind a treasure trove of special memories which will be cherished forever. Predeceased by her husband, Michael who died in 1995, surviving are her three children, Michael D'Amico and wife Sharon of South Plainfield, Robert D'Amico and wife Karin of Piscataway and Diane D'Amico Lamastra of Edison and sister, Rose Cito of Florida. She will also be missed by her five grandchildren, Teddy Rosocha, David D'Amico, Rebecca D'Amico, Michael C. D'Amico and Gina D'Amico, seven great grandchildren and two great - great grandchildren. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 from 3-7PM. Funeral services will begin at 6:30PM in the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately.
