Obituary of Kingsley M. Baehr

South Plainfield - Kingsley Baehr, 80, was called Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017, after a nine-month illness. Kingsley was born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China to the late Conrad and Myrtle Baehr, who were Christian missionaries there. Kingsley graduated from Plainfield High School and then attended Rutgers University, where he earned a B.A. in English and was active in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. After teaching English at Adamsville School in Bridgewater for 12 years, he moved on to Timothy Christian School in Piscataway for 28 years, where he taught middle school Bible and served as the "interim" Middle School Principal for more than 10 years. Kingsley and his wife Holly were married in 1973, and moved to their home in South Plainfield where they raised their family. Kingsley served the congregation at Cedarcroft Bible Chapel for more than 50 years as an elder, youth leader, and Bible teacher. He also ministered to children at camps and other churches for many years, and was able to use his messages as the basis for a devotional book, Hope in a Scarlet Rope. Kingsley enjoyed studying his Bible, praying, playing the piano, writing poetry, completing crossword puzzles in pen, playing Scrabble with his wife, and watching sports on TV. Surviving are his wife, Holly (Hendry) Baehr; two sons, Benjamin Baehr and wife Allison, of Philadelphia PA, and Matthew Baehr and wife Heather, of Glassboro NJ; and his sister, Elizabeth (Baehr) Lopez, of New Haven CT. Kingsley will also be missed by his grandchildren Levi, Joel, Callia, and Naomi, and a grandson due in April. Visitation will take place Friday, February 17, 2017, from 3-5 PM at Cedarcroft Bible Chapel, 1715 Kenyon Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by funeral services at 7 PM, with further visitation until 9PM. Burial will take place Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, and family and friends are invited to gather outside Cedarcroft Bible Chapel at 10 AM.
