Toms River - Edward Oprysk, 100, died early morning Thursday, November 9, 2017 in JFK Medical Center, Edison.
Born and raised in Newark to John and Mary (Burzyk) on February 22, 1917, Edward lived in South Plainfield for 34 years before settling to Toms River.
Ed retired from Westinghouse of Bloomfield in 1980 where he held the position of Tool & Dye Maker. He belonged to the Silver Ridge Association and the Polish American Club both of Toms River, the Italian American Club of Seaside and the South Plainfield Senior Center.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, casinos, and horseracing and family gatherings.
Predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mildred A. (DiCostanzo); two brothers, Theodore and Adam Oprysk and sister, Adele Evans; surviving are his son, Gregory and wife Marie; two grandsons, Michael and Christopher and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church at 10AM.
Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home from 4-7PM on Monday in the funeral home.
