Obituary of Joann Lillian Gebauer

Joann Lillian Gebauer, nee Higgins,92, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2017 at Somerset Wood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
Born in Hamilton to the late John and Ena Higgins, Joann worked at the Planter's Peanut Factory, and was an assistant plant manager at Store Factory in Blacksburg, VA. that was used during World War II as a defense plant. She went on to serve her country in the U.S. Navy for four years as a RN Hospital Mate.
After the war, she worked at St. Peter's Hospital, working as a seamstress, where many of her items where used in the Nun's Sacristy.
Joann lived in various state was a military bride before settling to Old Bridge then Lakewood, NJ.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Gebauer, Jr. in 1992, and her dear sisters, Ena Enos, and Eileen Shipski.
Surviving are her loving children, Adeline Gebauer and husband Erik Christophersen, Carol Homan and husband John, and Richard III and wife Donna, her cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Richard, and Katie, and her great granddaughter Sawyer Joann Gebauer.
Funeral services will be held privately under the directions of the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ with interment in the family plot in St. Peter's Episcopal Cemetery, Spotswood.
