Plainfield, NJ - Rev. Roland Freeman Cooper, Jr., 50, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Born in Goldsboro, NC, he has lived in Staten Island and moved to Plainfield in 1976.
Rev. Cooper was a Security Officer for the Plainfield Board of Education. His true calling in life was preaching the Word of God as an Ordained Minister. He devoted much of his time to North Stelton AME Church in Piscataway, NJ. He enjoyed cooking and was a Past Master with the Masonic Progressive Lodge #17.
Predeceased by his parents Roland Sr. and Mae Frances (Waring) Cooper and sister Charlotte (Kim) Cooper. Rev. Cooper is survived by his Devoted wife Carla (Seymour) Cooper and their children Christopher F. and Ashley Raquel Cooper, his sister Tonya (Cooper) Dennis and her husband Rev. Dr. Rickey Cooper of North Charleston, SC. He also leaves behind two uncles, Charles D. Waring of Morristown, Rodney B. Waring of Maryland and an aunt, Pamela D. Waring of Alexandria, VA.
Services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at North Stelton AME Church, 123 Craig Avenue, Piscataway, NJ 08854 beginning with a wake at 9:00 am and the funeral services beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow all of the services at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, NJ.
