Avelino Duro Medenilla, 74, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Born in San Quintin, Pangasinan Philippines to Luis and Flora Medenilla he lived most of his life in New Jersey. He is the youngest son of 9 siblings.Avelino graduated from National University in Manila, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He migrated to the United States at the age of 29 in search for better opportunities. He first moved to Philadelphia, PA and worked in on of the pharmaceutical companies in the area. In 1972, he moved to Jersey City, NJ and worked for various companies in the pharmaceutical industry. He eventually retired as a Research and Development Supervisor at Westward Pharmaceuticals. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and watching WWE's Manny Pacquiao and his beloved Nets play.Avelino, a devoted father, was very proud of his two daughters, Maribel Medenilla of Piscataway and Marlo Medenilla Meehan and her husband Brendan of Massapequa, Long Island. He is also survived by his loving and supporting wife of 43 years, Evelyn Fuertes Medenilla, his grandchildren Addison Sofia Meehan and Lucas Jay Meehan, his sister Norma Medenilla Asis and her husband Tey, as well as his many loving in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends.The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital team. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last four years were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
