Allen Gura, age 71, home at last, on March 4, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He is survived by his wife, Alice of 51 years, son Michael Gura, daughters Lisa Strasko, Sharon Finazzo and their spouses and was blessed with seven granddaughters and two grandsons. Allen is also survived by his brother, Robert Gura and his sister Barbara Raviol. His greatest pleasures in life were being with his family. Allen was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles and Lenore Gura and moved to New Jersey with his family during his teen years. He was an alumni of Rutgers University, majoring in Criminal Justice and Business. He devoted many years working with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and was a past member of the Middlesex Elks, where he served as an honorary Chaplain. He also ran for Councilman of his district on the Republican ticket. Allen had a career in the automotive field and served as a General Manager for Ford for many years until retiring. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he devoted time to the church's bus ministry and a communicant of Christ Evangelical Church in Whiting, NJ, whose prayers and support carried us through many difficulties. Relatives and friends may attend a gathering celebrating Allen's life on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 6:30 pm religious service.
