Obituary of Carmen L. Mazza

Carmen L. Mazza, 94, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on March, 1, 2017 at Parker Home at Landing Lane in New Brunswick surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Lucerne Mines, PA he was raised in Highland Park, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during World War II. As a member of the 97th Infantry Division, he was awarded two bronze stars during his European Campaign. Carmen married the love of his life, Carmella Fiore, in 1949 and settled in Piscataway in 1954 where they raised their family. Carmen was a consummate putterer who was meticulous in keeping his yard and garden pristine and always kept busy around the house. He enjoyed playing guitar and was an avid bowler. Carmen was a communicant of St. Francis of Cabrini R.C. Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and pop-pop who enjoyed the quality time spent with his family. He was preceded in death by his dear siblings, Joseph Mazza and Angela Virgili. Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years, Carmella Mazza, his loving daughters, RoseAnn Chavez and husband Ernie, and Celia Mazza, his cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua, Christian, Abbey, and Kenneth, great grandchildren Gavin and Liam, and his nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. Funeral services will begin with a prayer at 9:30AM on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Francis Cabrini R.C. Church, 208 Bound Brook Ave, Piscataway. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, Piscataway.
