South Plainfield, NJ - Charles W. Hoehler, 93, died at Saturday, January 23, 2016 at AristaCare at Norwood Terrace in Plainfield. Born in Mariners Harbor, NY, Charles lived in Westfield and Plainfield before settling to South Plainfield in 1954. Honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1946, Charles attained the rank of Corporal and received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He retired in 1986 after forty-three years of employment as an electrician with Union Carbine in Bound Brook. He is a member of the South Plainfield First Baptist Church, he enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball, was an avid bowler and enjoyed listening to music. Charles is predeceased by his wife Ruth who died in 2000 and by his three siblings. He leaves behind his daughter, Doreen Wallace and her husband Jim of Spotswood and son, Gary of Maryland. He will be missed by his four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his beloved cat, Houdini. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11AM in South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080. Charles will be buried beside his wife in Hillside Cemetery located in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 4-7PM.
