Piscataway-Jozsef Varga, 77, died on May 15, 2017 at Overlook Hospital in Summit after battling cancer.
Born March 28, 1940 in Nova, Hungary, Jozsef left Hungary as a teen, traveled to Yugoslavia, Italy and Germany, where he enlisted in the United States Army. He honorably served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars with the 101st Airborne.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for SS White in Piscataway until his retirement in 1995. However, Jozsef was a handyman, always willing to help with electrical work or construction.
A lifetime member of the Dunellen VFW, he enjoyed nothing more than relaxing with friends, having a shot and a beer while watching NASCAR.
Predeceased by two wives, Edith Varga (1979) and Helen Varga (2002); surviving are his four children, Elizabeth Savage and husband Tony, Jean Varga and boyfriend Ron Velicki, Mary Brashier and husband Christopher and Jozsef Varga, Jr. and girlfriend Nicole Martinez, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Natalie, Jackson, Michael, Caleb, Aidan, Rachael, Victoria, William, Luke, and Julia.
