Uncle Frank, John, Katie, Sarah & I were walking down to the end of the street to look at the new houses under construction. There was a home being built at the very end of the lane, oceanfront, that was framed out to 3 stories plus a walkout roof. Gorgeous new construction. The actual owner of the house that we were admiring (the girls were dying to run up the stairs) came out as we were standing around. John & I admired his new home, while he immediately started complaining to us about all the "hardships" he'd been having with the engineering plans, the builders, and-most importantly-all the costs and extra costs that he had NOT been anticipating when he decided to purchase the home before it was built. I think he was complaining because (he thought) we were all envious of the fabulous property.
Uncle Frank (who had been silent until then) just looked up at him from underneath his baseball cap and said, "You see that house over there?", pointing towards his home down the street. "Yes," the man replied hesitantly-not sure where this was going. "Well," Uncle Frank said, "I built that house. I figured out the design, bought the property, laid out the foundation. Built the whole thing myself. How much you pay for this property?" pointing back to the new home with the brim of his cap.
The owner said pridefully, "Well, I would have to say I've spent about 4 million so far."
But Uncle Frank shook his head slowly and sorrowfully. "You see that house, my house, over there?" he said proudly and pointed again to the indicated property. "Start to finish. I paid $30,000 for that house." He looked back at the guy and just continued to slowly shake his head. You could tell that Uncle Frank actually felt badly for him, but it wasn't his problem that the guy was too stupid to realize he'd been taken for a ride.
The guy said sheepishly, "Well things cost a lot more now." Uncle Frank continued to shake his head. It was quite obvious that Uncle Frank had complete disdain for the new owner's choices and decision to spend anywhere near that amount of money.
"$30,000," Uncle Frank repeated and turned and turned away. There was just no reply. We all just looked at each other. It was absolutely hysterical. I will never forget that story. Or Uncle Frank's pride in the house that he had built.

Dear Uncle Frank - such a loss of a marvelous, talented, sincere, truly great man. I loved his stories of Long Beach Island, building his home, fishing, and most of all, his family. He took pride in who he was, what he accomplished and was always an inspiration! He never waited to do the things he wanted to do. He just did them! He told me one time, "If I had let myself think of all the things that could go wrong, I would never have accomplished anything." I'm so glad I got to know him and hear all those amazing stories!!!! Uncle Frank will be truly missed.

Uncle Frank will truly be missed. Such a wonderful man/Uncle. Not one of us will forget his laugh, gentleness and that wonderful smile. How he put up with all of us kids when we were in LBI for 2 weeks every August since I can remember, I will never know. He loved fishing, crabbing and taking all of us out on his boat. Also, like his siblings, never had a bad word to say about anyone and never complained. He had a long and prosperous life. His memory will live in all of us forever!
Until we meet again...Love, Dina

Fond Memories and very privileged to have had such an amazing uncle. He loved his nieces and nephews like his own children.
I always enjoyed going to the family BBQs at his house. Playing horseshoes and softball in the yard and playing with his dogs.
I remember spending time at Uncle Frank's beach house, waiting impatiently for him to arrive, making him breakfast, then he would take us out fishing and crabbing all day. Afterwards, we would have a feast then play pinochle. I thank God for having such a caring, loving man that has been inspiring through our entire family.

Uncle Frank
I don't know if you understood what I said to you the last time we spoke, that you, my Dad, and Uncle John, were the biggest influence of my life.
I learned so much from watching and working with you guys.
Hay, I repaired my Mom's lamp when I was 5 years old from the things you guys taught me :)
My brother John and I just replaced the tile in Mom's bathroom and we said hay we are just like Dad and Uncle Frank
I want to thank you for everything I learned from you guys and the great times.
Rest in Peace

Uncle Frank will truly be missed. We have many great memories of all the Good Times we Shared in Barnegat Light in the summer times past - going fishing, clamming & having a Good O' Family BBQ. Also our family get together's in Martinsville - it's been a while, but the time's were good.
I am so glad that we had the chance to get together one last time, last June at Jim & Lori's house in Ship Bottom, LBI. It was so nice to see family that we had not seen in years, not knowing this would be the last time my Dad & Uncle Frank would actually see each other. It was a wonderful surprise for both of them, now they are together with the rest of their siblings in heaven and also my brother Joe whom we remember, passed 19 years ago tomorrow, Feb. 11,1997. RIP until we meet again. Love you!

My deepest sympathy to Frank's family. Death is really an enemy we can't win. But it is heart-warming to know that we can pour out our feelings to God who promises to comfort our hearts. (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17) May you find hope and peace through God's promise of resurrection. (John 5:28, 29)
