Obituary of Frances M. Kearins

Frances M. Kearins, née Caufield, 76, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick. She was born on April 13, 1941 to Michael and Doris Caufield and grew up in Hoboken New Jersey. She went on to attend nursing school and dedicated over twenty years to serving patients as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken. Frances married Michael Kearins in 1963, and settled in Piscataway in 1971 where they raised their family. She loved holidays with her family, and was known as an incredible cook. She combined these two passions to create holiday meals that were as decadent as they were enormous—always leaving plenty to share with family and friends on their way home. She delighted in going over the top when decorating her home for Halloween and Christmas and her handiwork was featured in the newspaper on one particularly memorable Halloween. She was also an avid reader and talented crafter, who enjoyed shopping and the quality time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Several of whom owe their knowledge of card games entirely to her tutelage. She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter Patricia, and her dear siblings, Edna Silvia, Michele DeTrizio, Patrick Caufield. Surviving are her beloved husband of 54 years Michael Kearins, her loving children, Maureen Szablewski and husband Lawrence, Michele Acevedo and husband Lorenzo, Kathleen Risko and husband Richard, Debra Crossman, and Michael Kearins and wife Melissa, her adored grandchildren, Christopher, Alexander, Samantha, Anthony, Richard, Fiona, Michael Aiden, Michael Ryan, Makenna, and Patrick, her dear brother Walter Caufield, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00PM at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Monday, August, 28, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, Piscataway.
