Obituary of Patrick Michael DeVito
Patrick Michael DeVito, 81, of Parlin, died peacefully on January 26, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born and raised in Plainfield to the late Pasquale and Elsie DeVito (nee Russo), after graduating from Plainfield High School, he went on to serve in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge in 1956, Patrick worked for the former MACK Trucking and a long career with Don Pizzolato, Inc. He married his longtime sweetheart, Elizabeth Bracey in 1958 and settled in North Plainfield and then Middlesex where they raised their family. Patrick moved to the Old Bridge/Parlin area recently where he currently resided.
He enjoyed golfing, movies, music, and most of all, spending quality time with his grandchildren. Patrick was an avid New York Yankee and Giants football fan. He enjoyed cooking and painting.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth DeVito.
Surviving are his loving children, Patrick M. DeVito, III and wife Carol, James DeVito, and Paul DeVito and wife Shawn, his adored grandchildren, Meghan and husband Joseph, Patrick IV, Aimee, Lauren, Andrew, Sarah, Rebecca, and Joseph, his great-grandson Nicholas, his dear siblings, Regina Persiano and husband Michael, Robert Persiano and wife Michelle his dear companion of 11 years Lucille Pecora well as his extended family and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30AM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Joseph R.C. Church 40 Jackson Ave, North Plainfield. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 8:30AM.
Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Memorial contributions may be made in Patrick’s memory to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
