Obituary of Joan Alagna

Middlesex - Joan Debra (Wanner) Alagna, 63, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on August 11, 2015 after fighting a battle with breast cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY to her late parents Daniel J. and Victoria (Laumoro) Wanner, she moved to Middlesex in 1977. Joan worked as an Accountant for Fiserve Solutions located in South Plainfield. She most recently was a receptionist and greeter with Weight Watchers in Green Brook and in her earlier years, she was a special education assistant for the Middlesex School System. Joan had a passion for gardening, she loved to take walks around the neighborhood and could always be found volunteering and walking for breast cancer awareness. Her favorite time of year was around Christmas where she enjoyed the lights and atmosphere. Joan leaves behind her husband of forty years, Paul J. Alagna, son Jeremy and his wife Donna of Bridgewater, daughter Sharon of Los Angeles, granddaughter Adrianna and her siblings; John and his wife Andrew Wanner of Maryland, Barbara Stephens of North Carolina and Marilyn Ragofsky and her husband Edward of Florida. Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 8:45 am until 9:45 am. Funeral services will begin 9:45 am in the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex.
