Obituary of Dennis M. McCabe

Dennis M. McCabe, 70, died on Thursday, March 14, 2019 surrounded by his family in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born in Jersey City, Dennis had been a longtime resident of Hudson County prior to settling to Fords in 2005.

He graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City and and proudly served our nation in United States Navy.

Following his honorable discharge in 1971, Dennis worked as Police Officer for the City of Jersey City for 25 years prior to his retirement. During his career he served on various units throughout the department including the motorcycle brigade. In addition, Dennis was also a member of the department’s Emerald Society and also belonged to the South Plainfield Elks Lodge #2298.

Dennis is survived by loving wife Elizabeth (Flanagan) of Fords; daughters, Adrienne McCabe also of Fords and Alison Mansfield and her husband Stephen of North Arlington; sons, Michael and his fiancé Christine McCahery of Robbinsville and Dennis and his fiancé Christine Pfeiffer of Mountainside; sisters, Kathleen Capitelli of Kearny and Patricia Hancox and her husband Robert of Ridgewood; brothers, Fred and his wife Lynn of Garfield and Kenneth and his wife Josephine of Woodland Park and his seven grandchildren, Jordan McCabe, Nicholas and Andrew Santerano, Lila and Nathan McCabe and Cadence and Hunter Mansfield. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 4-8pm in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.

Funeral Services will begin at 9am on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in the funeral home prior to the 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace in Fords, NJ.

Interment will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
