Middlesex, NJ – Helen A. (McKay) Huleatt, 95, passed away on April 24, 2019 at Somerset Woods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she resided since 2016. Born in Newark to William and Myrtle (Daly) McKay, Helen was a resident of Middlesex Borough for sixty-seven years.
Helen started her work life in her teens providing live-in child care. She moved on to be a telephone operator in Somerville before meeting the love of her life, William, and marrying in 1949. She then spent her time caring for her family as a homemaker. She also worked for Shop Rite of Middlesex and later provided home based child care.
Her passions in life were family, friends, her dogs, Chipper and Cody, and travel. She was a member of a very special group of friends known as the Dunkin Donuts Group. She enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Ireland and Caribbean cruises. Helen also embraced and celebrated her Irish heritage and was a strong supporter of the military.
Predeceased by her husband William J. in 1981 and her daughter-in-law Barbara in 2014. Helen was the fourth oldest and last surviving of her nine siblings; Ethel, Dorothy, Eleanor, Helen, Irene, twin sisters Elizabeth and Gladys, Lewis and Kenneth.
Helen leaves behind her loving and devoted children; William J. Jr and his wife Jayme of Vienna, VA; Gary of Piscataway; and Pamela Peters and her husband Jon of Burnham, ME; grandchildren Ryan, Lauren, Heather, Terri, Justin, Sarah and Nicole; great-grandchildren Kayla, David, Daniel and Ronin; her special nephew, Ken McKay; and best buddy, Justin Donatelli.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
On Saturday, May 4, 2019 family and friends may gather at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 am for a prayer service to begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a procession to Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
