Obituary of Richard V. Petrone
Richard Vito Petrone, 93, passed away at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ on Friday, September 13, 2019. Born in Elizabeth to the late Michael and Marie(DeFrance) Petrone, he lived in Roselle and Cranford prior to settling in South Plainfield, NJ in 1959.
An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy during WWII, Richard proudly served his country as an Aviation Radioman where he completed Naval Air Technical Training and Gunner School. He worked as an Operations Manager for Ultimate Distribution in Edison, NJ until his retirement.
He had a love for golf and bowling, but his true passion in life was spending time with his loving family. A devoted Christian, Richard was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church in South Plainfield, where he also held the position of treasurer.
Predeceased by his sister Gloria Dulcie, Richard leaves behind his loving family; wife Gloria (Hale) Petrone, daughters Linda of Easton, PA., Melodie of Alexandria Township, NJ and Lora McLean and her husband William of South Plainfield. His grandchildren include Aileen Zuromski and her husband Stephen J., Kellie Russo and her husband Mark, Jamie McLean and fiancé Brandon Coveney and Maggie McLean. Great-grandchildren include Blake A. and Stephen M. Zuromski and Audrina and Nicolette Russo. His nephews and nieces include Jeffrey and Gregory Dulcie and Michele (Dulcie) Kennedy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 10:30 am until 11:00am at Wesley United Methodist Church in South Plainfield followed by a service. Burial will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway.
