Obituary of Mark D. Fultz

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mark D. Fultz, 67, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at home, lovingly surrounded by his entire family. Born in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Alston Gayle Fultz and Thelma Virginia Lowther Fultz, Mark grew up in South Charleston and had resided in Piscataway, New Jersey since 1979.

Mark graduated from South Charleston High School in 1969, and in August attended his 50th High School Class Reunion. Upon graduating from Marshall University in 1973 with a BBA in accounting, Mark began his career at Union Carbide Corporation in South Charleston. In 1979, he and Janie made the decision to move their family to Piscataway, where he worked at the Union Carbide Bound Brook Plant and the Weston Canal Center. In 1995, he joined Union Carbide's Amerchol Corporation as an Information Technology Manager. After retirement from Union Carbide in 2002, Mark began a second career as an assistant manager at the Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway. Mark always said that "golf is my passion," and he had quite a collection of golf clubs, which he happily shared with whoever wanted to take up the sport. He retired from Rutgers in 2012, but never gave up his love for golf.

Mark coached youth soccer in Piscataway and touched the lives of many young men and women. For many years, he enjoyed skiing with his family and friends in the Poconos, and yearly vacations in the Outer Banks with his family and their extended families.

He is survived by his wife Janie (Lee) of Piscataway, with whom he had spent the last 50 years; daughters, Alison Peters and her husband Oliver of Bound Brook and Elizabeth Wilkins and her husband Stan of Piscataway; son, David Fultz and his wife Colleen of North Plainfield; grandchildren, Mark James and Jake David Fultz and Lillian Jane and Alexander Mark Wilkins. Also surviving is a sister, Sarah Stacy (Preston), and brothers-in-law, Charles Lee (Jessi) and Ronald "Kip" Lee. Mark leaves behind five nephews and a niece -- Jacob and Carley Lee; Chris and Scott Stacy; and Jamie (Bridget) and Steven Fultz (Leah), and their families, and he provided immeasurable support and guidance to them over the years. Mark's family was his priority, and his legacy will live on in their lives. He also leaves behind many other family, neighbors, friends and co-workers whose friendships he treasured. Mark will be missed beyond measure by so many, including his dogs, Buddy and Lucy.
