Obituary of Sophie F. Simms
Sophie “Sunnie” Simms, 98, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at The Woodlands in Plainfield.
Born and raised in South River, Sunnie settled to South Plainfield in 1952.
She worked on the Assembly Line for the former Unisys Company in Branchburg for over 25 years prior to her retirement.
A longtime communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, Sunnie was known throughout her family as an excellent cook. She enjoyed Big Band Dancing and her occasional single Bud Light.
Predeceased by her husband Anthony, she survived by her daughter, Sandra Schock of Eustis, FL.; son, Anthony Simms and his wife Nancy of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Anthony Simms III, Kevin Simms and Ryan Schock and two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 beginning at 9:15am in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
