James M. Courtney

Age: 65 * Rockaway Township

Rockaway Township – James M. Courtney, 65, died suddenly at his residence on Saturday, November 16, 2019.  Born in Jersey City to the late James and Patricia (Bastian) Courtney, James and his family moved to Dover when he was three, and he has been a resident since. 

For over twenty-five years, James worked for Micros Retail Systems, Inc. in Weehawken as a Senior Technician.  He was an avid sports fan, especially being a diehard fan of the NY Jets and NY Mets.  He enjoyed bowling and fishing but overall, he loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.

James leaves behind his loving daughter Mary Courtney and her two children; Lillianna R. and Tyler J. Geiger as well as his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and John Shuleski.  He will also be missed by many extended family and friends.

Visitation will take place at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Friday, November 22, 2019 beginning 10:00 am.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 10:30 am followed by burial at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
