Obituary of John Ward Wolek
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John W. “Jack” Wolek, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 15th, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Irvington NJ to the late Casimir and Harriet (Ward) Wolek, Jack was a resident of South Plainfield for 49 years.
Jack was a proud member of Teamster local 843 and worked for the Pabst and Anheuser Busch breweries in Newark NJ for 40 years, before retiring in 2002. He was an avid fisherman, and you could usually find him fly fishing the south branch of the Raritan River, PBR in hand, when he wasn’t with the breakfast club at McDonald’s.
Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rita, his brother James of Lebanon, NJ, and his children; Michael and his wife Mariah of Annapolis, MD, Jamie of Morristown, NJ, and Jonathan and his wife Rachael of Lebanon Township, NJ. Jack was the proud Grandfather of Madeline, Harrison, Camryn, Vivienne, and Bradley. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and his constant furry companion, Toby.
We take comfort in knowing that his presence will always be felt on the lakes and streams he loved to fish.
Donations can be made in Jack’s memory to the South Plainfield Rescue Squad at southplainfieldems.org/donations
