With my mom very busy working multiple jobs and going to college, Pop pop took care of me a lot in the early years of my life. He was always so purely kind to me, and a true gentleman, I couldn’t have had a better person teach me good morals. He selflessly gave all he had to the ones who he cared about. His only love in his life, my grandmother died when I was only 1, but he always said it brought him comfort to know she got to meet one of her grandchildren. He supported every single thing I’ve done in life, the haircuts, tattoos, piercings, girls I’ve dated, even went to multiple of my shitty bands shows. Obviously supported me going back to school, and wish I had gotten the chance to tell him I finally finished. I knew this was coming soon, but I really hoped he’d make it through this pandemic. He told me he at least wanted to see one more James Bond movie in theaters with me because we had seen every one since Goldeneye together. I hadn’t been allowed to see him in over a month, so there was no last goodbye, no funeral, no big remembrance party, nothing but fond memories. Going to do what he always asked me to do when he’d go, and that’s watch and laugh at the Blues Brothers like we would when I was a kid, listen to some Elvis and Buddy Holly, and toast him a glass of whiskey. Thank you Ernest Kovatch for everything you ever did.

Although I have not seen Ernie in many years, I have always considered him my older and wiser “big brother”! Only I know what he did to save our family when my mother was ill—I will prepare a story about him—how he took us bowling and golfing—-how he taught me to play basketball—-how he drove our family all over creation——how he and my Dad played the horses—-how we watched him play pinochle— how we treated each other like brothers—but mostly, how was always there for our family and how he prevented me from loneliness!! Ernie was the most dependable person this world has ever known! The world must know of his simple greatness! If I have one regret in my life, it is that we lost touch. Ernie’s story must be written!!
