Linden – Gerardo “Jerry” Terrones, 66, passed away at Overlook Hospital in Summit on April 25, 2020 as a result of COVID-19. Born in Lima, Peru to Zoila Guzman Liontop and the late Gerardo Modesto Terrones Alcantara, Jerry immigrated to the United States in 1973, settling to Harrison, then to Elizabeth in 1984 and finally to Linden in 2005. Jerry worked in the shipping department of Silgan Containers Corporation in Edison. He belonged to the United Steel Workers Union and was a member of the Living Hope United Methodist Church in Elizabeth where he also served as a trustee. Jerry was a handyman who was always friendly, honest, loyal, protective and charismatic. Jerry enjoyed cleaning, dancing and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could often be found outside gardening and barbecuing and was an avid sports fan, especially the Knicks, Mets and 49’ers. Jerry leaves behind his loving and devoted family; wife Jessica, daughter Jesenia and son Alejandro; all of Linden and Gerardo A. and his wife Kate of Middlesex. He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren; Jonathan, Joseph, Aidan, Jacob and Brandon, his mother Zoila Grozzo and siblings; Jorge, Adriana, Blanca and Jessica. A private family gathering will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home and burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Linden. Once the restrictions are lifted, a service honoring Jerry’s life will be announced.
