Obituary of AJ Farley
Middlesex, NJ – After a long illness, Arthur J. Farley III, best known as "AJ", 48, passed away on June 4, 2020. Born in Hoboken, AJ grew up in Union City until moving to the Sayreville/South Amboy area in 1995. AJ lived in Dunellen for four years prior to settling in Middlesex in 2010.
AJ started his career with the Union City Parks Department where he worked from 1990-1996. He became a forklift operator at Estes Express until 2000 and during that time, he also worked the night shift at Blimpie as a store manager. AJ was a driver for Champion Uniform from 2000-2002 until being employed by Heartland Construction of Middlesex where he was a truck driver.
During his life, AJ was a member of the Union City Police Explorers and later served as an assistant coach for the Sayreville Athletic Association. However his most valued years were spent being a member of a father/son bowling team at Stelton Lanes in So. Plainfield with Nathan and the proud moments he spent watching Nathan play AYF football as a Middlesex Bluejay. He very much enjoyed serving as a dedicated member of the Office of Emergency Management in Middlesex. AJ was always pleasant to anyone he came across and never hesitant to lend a hand. His talents were evident when it came to landscaping, carpentry or refinishing furniture and he was generally mechanically inclined when it came to machines or cars. AJ would be the first to find a good bargain, and no doubt, he always had a cup of coffee in his hand.
AJ loved to watch television, especially if it was a Dallas Cowboys game, a WWE event, Chicago PD or The Rookie. He loved spending time with his family and playing with all of his nieces and nephews. An extremely loyal friend with a large, giving heart, AJ will be truly missed by everyone he knew.
He was a valiant defender of everything and everyone he believed in and a true fighter throughout the numerous medical setbacks and obstacles he had endured, especially in the last four years of his life, here on earth.
Predeceased by his father Arthur, Jr., AJ leaves behind his loving wife Kimberly A. (Hill) and their son Nathan, his mother Rosemary of Bayonne, sister Rosemary O’Connell and her husband Billy of Neptune, brothers Frank and Nathaniel of Bayonne, his Uncle John and Aunt Justine Annunziata of Middletown.
AJ also leaves behind his extended family; mother and father-in-law Karen and Harry E. Hill, III of Middlesex, brother-in-law Justin Hill and his wife Melissa of Middlesex, sister-in-law Caitlin MacDonald and her husband Brad of North Fort Myers, FL, sister-in-law Megan Kober and her husband Christopher “Cookie” of Flanders and sister-in-law Heather Glovich and her husband Alexander of Freehold as well as his nieces and nephews; Bridget, Chloe, Juliet, Olivia, Joseph and Jackson.
Those wishing to visit with the family may attend a memorial gathering at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Those in attendance are required to wear proper face coverings and maintain social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to any of the emergency volunteer organizations in Middlesex Borough. They were always there for him when needed, so in order for them to continue to assist others, we encourage donations sent in his name.
