South Plainfield -  Rita DiCuollo Lambert, 87, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 in JFK Haven Hospice of JFK Medical Center in Edison.

 

Born in Newark, Rita was a long time resident of South Plainfield.  She was involved in various South Plainfield Community activities, such as the South Plainfield Labor Day Parade Committee, Girl Scout Leader, Pop Warner Committee and held the position of the PTA president.

 

Rita enjoyed her shore house in Seaside Heights for many years.  She could be found in her backyard pool, playing bingo and attending the sports activities of her grandchildren.  Rita also looked forward to her weekly card games with her family and friends.

 

She worked for the DMV for many years and was appointed by Governor Christine Todd Whitman to become the East Brunswick Motor Vehicle Agent, retiring in 1996 after 35 dedicated years.

 

Rita will be remembered as a loving, caring, outgoing mother and grandmother who made everyone feel welcome.

 

Predeceased by her husband, Phillip DiCuollo and by her son Phillip DiCuollo, as well as her brothers and sisters; surviving are her devoted daughter, Doreen Darr of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Lauren Staats and husband Derek of Dunellen, Kyle Darr of South Plainfield and Gabrielle DiCuollo and fiancé Mike Fava and her sister, Lee Balazs of South Plainfield.

 

She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
