Obituary of Elaine Kimberly Hessing
Elaine Kimberly Hessing was born on September 21, 1962 to Sybil Hessing and the late Noel Hessing in Newark, NJ. She was granted her angel wings on October 13th, 2020 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ at the age of 58. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Elaine had touched throughout her life.
Elaine grew up with her family in Newark, NJ. She attended Archbishop Walsh High School in Irvington, NJ where she was an active member of the French Club. Elaine graduated high school in 1980 and then briefly attended Rutgers-Newark for accounting. That same year her family moved to South Plainfield, NJ.
Elaine was employed with the United States Postal Service as a processor in the city of Newark. Elaine was a hard worker and in July of 2006 she received an award for being one of the best employees by the airport mail center managerial staff.
Elaine’s interests included spending time with family and friends, going on cruises, reading, taking pictures, listening to music, learning about new technology, playing spades, playing board games and watching movies. In her earlier years she was an avid bowler who played regularly with family and friends. Elaine also enjoyed indulging in chocolate chip cookies, Auntie Annie's pretzels and pistachios. Above all, Elaine was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was always willing to help others and she was kind to all. Her giving spirit will be missed by many.
Elaine leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving and supportive family; her mother, Sybil Hessing, brother Ronald Hessing and his wife Pamela Hessing, nieces and nephews; Nicole Holl and her husband Ryan Holl, Jamal Hessing, Jasmine Hessing, Domonique Hessing, Dishon Hessing and her great-niece Olivia Holl. She was preceded in death by her father Noel Hessing.
Elaine is also survived by many extended family members and friends, her uncle Bernard Hessing and very close cousins Maxine Rohan and Madge Duval as well as close friends; Rhonda Sealy and Charlene Conde.
A celebration of Elaine's life will begin at 11 am on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 with a closing religious service at 1:45pm. At the request of the Hessing family, cremation will be held privately.
