Obituary of Dominick Joseph Pasquerello

Please share a memory of Dominick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Toms River – Dominick Joseph Pasquerello, known to his family and friends as “Sonny” passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at his home in Toms River with loving family at his side.  Born and raised in Plainfield to the late Francesco and Virginia (Santonastasso) Pasquerello, he settled to Piscataway in 1961 and relocated to Toms River in 2014.

Dominick attended Plainfield High School, but left early to serve his country in Europe and in 1956, earned an honorable discharge from the United States Army.  After coming home, he immediately went to work for Mack Motors and played semi-pro Football for the New Jersey Oaks.  He started his career within the food service and retail industry at O’Connors Supermarket and then went on to become part owner of The Butcher Block in Plainfield.  He retired in 1996 from ShopRite in Piscataway where he worked as a Butcher for eighteen years.

Dominick always believed in the importance of education, returned to school and graduated High School in 1978 – the same year as his daughter.  His true passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed spending time in the garden and loved to cook – talents he inherited from his parents.  Dominick and his wife Margaret could clear a dance floor and they loved to travel together.   He enjoyed collecting antiques and was the historian for the Pasquerello family.  Dominick was formerly an active member of the booster club and PTA of St. Pius X High School in Piscataway, and was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, elected to the Parish Council and Vice President of the PTA.

We will remember him for his sense of humor and storytelling, big heart and smiling face, especially when he was together with his brothers and sisters.  He was a former member of the Maddalonese Society and Italian-American Club of North Plainfield.

Predeceased by four brothers and three sisters; Peter, Angie, Helen, Nick, Frank, Anthony and Frances, Dominick leaves behind his loving wife of sixty-two years; Margaret L. (Martinkovic) Pasquerello and their two children; Lisa Pasquerello-Lefano of South Plainfield and Michael Pasquerello and his wife Lorraine of Metuchen.  He is also survived by three sisters; Mary, Rosie and Jeanne, five grandchildren; Alyssa and her husband Michael, Michael, Emily and her husband Alban, Stephen and Natalie, as well as his six great-grandchildren; Elias, Adelina, Liliana, Julian and Hannah and Andre.

At the request of the family, a private funeral mass was held at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Piscataway and mausoleum entombment followed at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research (www.lustgarten.org)
