Obituary of Jennie Jankoski
South Plainfield - Jennie Jankoski, (Bencivenga), 94, died on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Bridgeway Care and Rehab Center in Hillsborough.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jennie lived in Plainfield before moving to South Plainfield in 1948.
Jennie first entered the workforce during World War II in working in support of the war effort. Following the war and after raising her two children Jennie worked as a coil winder for Thermameterics in Edison for eight years before finally retiring.
A longtime and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield, Jennie served as Past President of the Rosary Altar Society and was also a former member of the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.
An avid gardener, Jennie enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as traveling visiting various places notably; Hawaii, California, Spain, Morocco, and Italy.
She is predeceased by her husband Frank, Sr., who died in 2004 and by her brothers Donald and Frank Bencivenga.
Surviving are her 2 sons; Frank and his wife Nancy of Philipsburg and Vincent and his wife Elizabeth of Maryland, her sister, Martha Valentino and her husband Eugene of Flemington and her grandchildren: Kevin, Christopher, Kimberly, Kelly, Anthony, and Michael. Also surviving is a great grandchild, Vivianne.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 9:30am in the McCriskin Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by 10:30 AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 4 -7pm in the funeral home.
