Obituary of James William Long
Piscataway – James William Long, 45, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.
Born and raised in Bridgewater, James resided in Hillsborough before settling in Piscataway in 2011. James made his love for food into a career, initially working as a chef in nursing homes, restaurants and catering halls. He currently was the Production Manager at Mini Taco Shells, and always enjoyed catering events for family and friends, including his annual pool party.
A talented bowler, James had multiple 300 games, rolling his most recent on Thursday, January 7, 2021, and held an average of 215. James had recently found a love for golf, and landed a hole in one on the 8th hole of the Raritan Landing Golf Course this past summer. James was a passionate NJ Devils fan, and was a part of the “233 Crazies”, a dedicated NJ Devils Fan Club. An avid cruiser, James had already almost reached 4-star Mariner status on Holland America Line, an impressive feat for a man so young. James and his wife sailed annually for the past few years, and Curacao was Jim’s favorite port of call.
Predeceased by his father, William Long, James leaves behind his loving wife of 17 years, Danielle Long of Piscataway; mother, Stella Lombardi and sister, Carolyn Chandler both of Eason, PA, along with many extended family members.
A Memorial for James will be held later this year. For those who are comfortable, family and friends may gather at McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 1-4PM. Funeral services and cremation will be held privately.
