Obituary of Christopher Sage

Christopher Sage was born on December 25th, 1946 on the Island of Barbados.He was the third born of seven children.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents the late Lenora and Jehoshaphat (Osford) Sage, brother Morris Sage and Sister Covelle L. Sage.  Christy or Chris as he was mainly called, departed from this life on February 3rd, 2021 in New Providence, NJ.

 

He leaves behind two sisters- Wilma Sage and Margot (June) Southwell and two brothers David and Lloyd Sage.

 

Christopher attended the Modern High School located in Bridgetown, Barbados. Upon graduation, he moved to Nassau, Bahamas where he worked as a correctional officer for a period. He later migrated to New York and married his late wife Betty Hinds Sage and attended Brooklyn College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As an Accountant, Chris worked for Paine Webber and Merrill Lynch. Christopher would leave investment banking and find a love and place for his talent as a Social Worker for the City of New York, Association of Children Services and was employed there until his retirement in 2010.

 

Christopher moved to New Jersey around 1997 with his wife at the time- Sandra and Stepson Kevin Henry.  He later divorced and remarried to Eleanor Harewood.  Chris was a very jovial person who enjoyed socializing, cricket, food and gardening. He was a talker and could make friends easily.

 

Christopher is also survived by two ex-wives- Sandra Sage and Elanor Harewood, Stepson- Kevin Henry; Nieces- Carolyn Sage-Gill, Fiona Sage, Monique Southwell; Nephews- Anthony Sage, Paul Southwell, Corey Sage, Lloyd Jr Sage, Ryan Sage, Troy Sage; In-laws- Morris Southwell, Norma Sage, Marjia Bennette- Sage, Arminta Sage and a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 2-5pm in the Middlesex Funeral Home.

 

Cremation Services will take place privately.
