Obituary of Eleanor E. Rossi
Eleanor Elaine Rossi, passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2021, in West Bradford, PA surrounded by her family.
Eleanor, a leap year baby, was born in Newark, NJ on February 29th, 1944 to James and Kathleen Cooney and immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. After meeting the love of her life Louis Rossi Sr. (1942-2020) they married in 1966, moved to Belleville, NJ, before settling in Middlesex in 1972.
Eleanor was not only a wonderful person, but a fiercely dedicated mom to all three of her children, raising them with the wonderful core values that are so valuable today. Family came first and over her time on this earth, she shared her love with so many people. She was one of the strongest, kindest and bravest women, and the hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.
After raising her children, Eleanor went on to work for SOS gases in Middlesex for over 20 years before retiring with her husband Louis to enjoy life.
She enjoyed cheering on her children and grandchildren at every single sporting event. Whether it was softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, whatever it was, she was always there. She loved traveling with family, chinese food, Irish dancing, Angels, Bingo, a good Thrift Store and watching Jeopardy.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Louis Rossi , her sister Patricia Scala, and brothers, Robert and John Cooney. Eleanor is survived by her siblings, Kathleen Spina of Danville, Virginia, Carol Kirk of Middlesex NJ and her brother Lawrence Cooney of Whiting NJ. Her 3 children, Louis Rossi (Dianne) and Michelle Rossi of West Bradford Twp PA and Lisa Rossi Smoke (Ed) of Bridgewater. And her 5 grandchildren who loved her more than anything, Ian, Matthew, Brianna, Alexanda and Louis. She has also left behind so many wonderful other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.
Visitation will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 9am until 11am. Following the visitation, an 11:30am funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex.
Burial will take place at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to St. Jude Children's Reseach Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated.
