Obituary of Anna Solinski Iwaszczenko

Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Plainfield – Anna (Solinski) Iwaszczenko, 85, passed away on April 5, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.  Born in Romania to the late Frank and Michelena (Tarot) Solinski, Anna immigrated to Newark, settling to her first home in Atco for 8 years, and has been a resident of Plainfield since 1967.

She began her career at RCA and then for thirty-seven years, Anna was employed at Lockheed Electronics / Lockheed Martin.  Anna was a selfless woman who helped anyone in need.  Not because she was obligated too, but it was just the type of woman she was.  She loved her family and friends and was proud to work tirelessly alongside her husband to provide things to the family that they did not have growing up.

Anna was a master chef and baker, especially known for her amazing pierogi’s.  She could fix anything and would fix anything, in her own words, she was a genius!  Anna could always be found smiling, even when she felt troubled.  We all know she is up there with the love of her life, dancing to polka, planting her beautiful garden and baking and cooking for all those who went before her.

Predeceased by her husband Wasyl and son Greg, Anna leaves behind her loving family; daughter Helen Orior and her husband Reg of Murphys, CA, son Alex Iwaszczenko of Barnegat, daughter Nina Kaden of Fords and her grandchildren; Mike (Heidi), Nick (Janessa), Danny, Paul, Larissa, Ashley (Shaun), Shannon and Kendall as well as eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 5pm-9pm.  Family and friends are invited to attend the 12:00 pm funeral service at St. Andrew Memorial Church, 280 Main Street, South Bound Brook, NJ 08880.  Burial will follow at the family plot of St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Cemetery located on the church grounds.

In lieu of flowers, donations sent to The Sunshine Kids (www.sunshinekids.org) would be appreciated.
