Obituary of Antonio Amodeo
South Plainfield – Antonio Amodeo, 87, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in JFK Hartwyck in Plainfield.
Born in Sicily, Antonio immigrated to the United States and attended Columbia University in NYC. He met the love of his life, Carmela, married then relocated to Brooklyn, NY and lived in Brooklyn until the birth of her first son. Shortly after, they moved to Plainfield, before settling to South Plainfield.
An importer/exporter for Edward P. Paul, Co. in Plainfield, Antonio enjoyed cooking and completing crossword puzzles. He was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was active with the Foundation for Retinal Research, now Foundation Fighting Blindness, after the birth of his Granddaughter.
Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Carmela Amodeo; surviving are two sons, Anthony Amodeo of Telford, PA and Joseph Amodeo and wife Wendy of Dunellen as well as his granddaughter, Grace Ann Amodeo also of Dunellen.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 9:30AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10:30AM.
Entombment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Monday from 6-8PM.
