Obituary of Aitza R. Rivera
South Plainfield, NJ – Aitza R. Rivera, 49, sadly passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at JFK Medical Center in Edison after a courageous battle. Born and raised in Jersey City, Aitza settled to South Plainfield sixteen years ago.
She graduated James J. Ferris High School in Jersey City, and started her working career shortly after. She dedicated herself to the US Attorney’s Office in Newark where she was currently a Supervisor - Legal Assistant.
Aitza loved to cook and travel to Puerto Rico. She was known to be a pseudo mom to many and never missed time spent with family, especially supporting her son Jayden at his swim meets; he is her pride and joy.
Aitza is survived by her loving husband, Robin, a son, Jayden, her parents, Gilberto and Margarita, sister, Ivette Morina and her husband Mark; brothers, Gil and his wife Ana and Manny and his wife Aracelis; as well as, her mother-in-law Lydia Cruz -Hernandez.
She will be missed deeply by her nieces and nephews; Gil III, Giovanni, Damion, Liliana, Adara, Sofia, Emma, John and Grayson and the many extended family members and close friends.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00 am in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 12:00pm funeral mass at The Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the funeral home on Thursday, August 12, 2021 between 4pm-8pm.
