Obituary of Martin Gallegos Macias

Martin Gallegos Macias, 69, of Plainfield passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Born and raised in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Martin immigrated to the United States in 1970 residing in Los Angeles, CA.  In 1983, he settled to Plainfield, NJ.

Martin, owner and operator of the popular J & D Pools, took great pride in his business and the people he served. Teaching others his self-taught skills gave him joy and his work ethic inspired all those who witnessed his craft. 

He enjoyed gambling, singing, and spending time with his family. Helping others and being selfless all came natural to him as he was the type to always put others and their needs before himself. His elegance, wisdom, charm, wittiness, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Martin is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Gallegos, Rosalie Gallegos, Amelia Gallegos, Miranda Gallegos, Valerie Gallegos, Jennifer Gallegos, Nabil Gallegos, his sons, Martin Gallegos Jr., Angel Gallegos, Martin Gallegos, Danny Gallegos; his sister Celia Gallegos Macias; his brother, Jesus Gallegos Macias; and 21 grandchildren.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 4-8pm in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave South Plainfield, NJ 07080.

Cremation Services will take place privately following the visitation.

Martin’s cremated remains will be placed to rest at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 12pm.
