Obituary of Paul J. Lahaski

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Middlesex, NJ – Paul J. Lahaski, 79, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville.  Born in Plainfield to the late Stanley and Mary (Apisa) Lahaski, he has been a longtime resident of the borough.

Paul retired from Pegasus Products in Branchburg where he worked as an Engineer.  Over the years, Paul was honored to have a few patents on products he helped bring to the homes of many who enjoyed spending time outdoors in the pool.

In Paul’s younger years, he was always at his daughter and son’s side.  Whether it was on the baseball field, coaching softball, helping for over twenty years with the Middlesex Little League or spending time on the deck or in his pool, he absolutely adored his family and spending time with them was his priority. As his family grew to include grandchildren, he was an extremely proud papa and any chance he could get; he would be rooting them on at any school or sporting event.

When he was not with his family, his garden and grill were his passions.  He loved preparing a meal for guests and sharing his homegrown vegetables.  He always had a hand extended out to those in need and cherished all the time spent with his second family at the Middlesex Elks.  Paul volunteered countless hours to help the community become a better place.  He was on several committees, served as an officer of the lodge, was a past Officer of the Year and currently served on the Board of Directors for the Somerset Treatment Center, a center for all types of therapies to help children with special needs.

Predeceased by his sister Janice who died in the late 1970’s and by his brother Peter, who died just two weeks ago, Paul leaves behind his loving and devoted family; wife Debbie (Monahan) Lahaski of forty-six years, daughter Lisa Rumain and her husband Brian, son Paul R. Lahaski and his fiancé Lilliam Cordero, two sisters; Barbara Lahaski and Ellen Closter and his three grandchildren, whom were the lights of his eyes; Aidan, Madeline and Mia.

At the request of the Lahaski family, a private family service will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent in Paul’s name to Middlesex Elks #1488, 545 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 would be appreciated.
