I remember the first time meeting Marlene, my youngest son was entering nursery school and was having a tough time separating. Marlene was so loving and caring as she consoled me. I knew then we were in the perfect place. The next year I started work at the preschool where we became friends. She was always warm, loving, caring and kind. Marlene was like my work Mom, she was so comforting, knowing when I needed a kind word or a hug. Marlene was a beautiful blessing in my life and I’m very grateful for her.
Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Love and prayers.

Marlene was my cousin, but growing up she was so much a part of our lives she was like another sister. Every holiday, every birthday, and many summer days we spent together, doing things kids did in the days before computers and social media. But my favorite memories revolve around music. Playing 45's on our record players, or gathered around Nana and her guitar, we would sing our hearts out using sticks or hairbrushes as microphones. Marlene had the sweetest strongest voice, and I can still hear her loud and clear. I'll always keep that memory alive. I know she lives on in her beloved children and grandchildren, my heart goes out to you all. #athousandstarsinthesky

I was so very sorry to see this. I was good friends with her sister Michele in high school and saw Marlene often. She was a vibrant, beautiful girl. My condolences to the entire family. It's very difficult when people you grow up with pass. Especially someone as sweet as Marlene was. God bless. Arlene

Where do I start? Was it the year we all went to Kings Dominion with our kids? Jimmy went jogging and got lost and the cook in our hotel killed his wife’s boyfriend! Or the many times we went to Dance Unlimited exercising and then went to Friendlys for breakfast. The scariest was when you missed 3 classes and I came over and you showed me that “lump” in your neck but down the road, you got pregnant with Sara and Barbara I gave you a baby shower at my house. So sorry we lost touch after we moved

Marlene was a great mentor and friend. I wouldn’t have been the teacher I was without her guidance, patience, support, love and friendship. I was so touched when she went all the way out to Long Island, the day after Thanksgiving , to attend my Dad’s wake. But, that was Marlene. When my son was hospitalized with pneumonia, she made me one of her famous spaghetti pies….even though I made it exactly how she said she made hers, it never quite was as good!!! I haven’t talked with her in a while but the heart never forgets the special friendship we had. We had a lot of laughs together and I will remember those for my lifetime. Sending peace, love, prayers to her family in this difficult time.

Having Marlene as a friend for over 30 years was a huge blessing in my life. From starting out as co-workers to sharing in the growth of our children to having her support me in my life journey is something I will always be thankful for. I will miss her; and I pray for God to bring comfort to your family.

Mrs Neely was the absolute kindest sweetest women there ever was. She took the best care of my children and me, when they started school. I missed her so much when my kids moved on. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Heaven could have no greater gift.

I was so sorry and devastated by the loss of Marlene, my best friend for the better part of 40 years. So many memories of doing things together with our kids, Cabbage Patch dolls, holiday crafts, ceramics, summer parties, Christmas parties, from Girl Scouts through graduations, and grandchildren. Exercising at Curves and breakfasts at Friendly's and Perkins. The best friend I could ever have, and a beautiful person, is gone. I am so sad and will miss her terribly. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Jim and her family who were everything to her.

I was lucky to work with Sara in 3rd grade for a number of years. The thing I remembered the most was when Sara would introduce herself to the kids each year. She had a special book her mom had made her that showcased special moments in her life. The love that radiated from that book could be seen and the kids (and myself) loved listening to Sara read. Sara talked about her mother a lot and soon became a mother herself. She is a fantastic mom and that is due to her loving mother Marlene. Homemade Halloween costumes, holiday surprises, outings and adventures, she does it all! I know Marlene (lalu) is looking down on her daughters and grandchildren and beaming with pride and love. To the Neely family my prayers and thoughts are with your family.

I was so sorry to hear of Marlene’s passing. We both lived in Green Brook growing up and sang in the choir at Dunellen High School. Although we lost contact, we had just reconnected through Facebook and I’m so glad we did. My heart is broken for her family . Prayers for all. Lori (Golden) O’Rourke

When Marlene and her family would visit us during our childhood days we spent time listening to records - - and Marlene sang along - - her beautiful voice was amazing. She sang so often that I can STILL hear her voice when I think about those times. We danced, swam and I don’t ever remember seeing her without a smile (except when she swallowed a water bug in our pool). From what I remember hearing, even the old-school nuns loved Marlene. (Not all of us can say that!) I thank God for social media allowing us to reconnect all these years. I will hold on to every memory my heart can hold. I treasure the Paul McCartney souvenir and the Christmas ornaments she made for me throughout the years. All my love and sympathy goes out to Aunt Yolanda, Michele, Sandra, Jodi, Mike, Jim, Missy, Jen, Sara and all spouses, children, pets and all the many lives she touched that we probably don’t even know about.
With Love, Subi
