Obituary of Francis P. McRae
South Plainfield, NJ – Francis P. McRae, known by everyone as “Buster,” passed away peacefully at his home on September 1, 2022, just three days shy of his 86th birthday. Born in New Brunswick to the late Francis P. and Jeanetta (Wyckoff) McRae, Buster grew up in Highland Park and spent most of his adult life in South Plainfield.
In his younger years, Buster traveled with the carnival and years later, would often visit the crew he used to work with. He retired from Halls Distribution in South Plainfield where he worked as a warehouse supervisor.
He was a NASCAR enthusiast having attended many races in Wall and Flemington. A proud Elk, Buster was a lifetime member and former Tiler with the B.P.O. Elks, South Plainfield Lodge #2298.
Predeceased by his wife Brenda in 2017 and by his sister Carol Genereux, Buster leaves behind his nephew John Genereux of Omaha, NE, cousin Maryann Slater and her husband Thomas of Metuchen as well as very close friends; Monica Spooner, Jewel Murphy and Nancy Zipfel and several extended family members and friends.
A memorial service reflecting Buster’s life will be held at McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, September 9, 2022 beginning 5:00pm with a concluding Elks service at 7:30pm.
