Obituary of Eleanor May Painton
Eleanor M. Painton, 98, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 9, 1924 to the late Anthony and Michelina (Porta) Montesi. Eleanor resided in Linden, NJ most of her life where her father was a police officer.
While working in Elastic Stop Nut, Inc. in Union New Jersey, she met the love of her life, George M. Painton, Jr. They were married on March 2, 1946. They lived in Cranford in their first house before settling in South Plainfield in 1954 where they raised their family.
Eleanor enjoyed crafting, crocheting, knitting, listening to music, and watching cooking shows on TV.
She is predeceased by her husband George Painton, Jr., her son James M. Painton, Sr., sister Anna Hayes and brothers Arthur and Henry Montesi.
She is survived by her sister Georgette Schulz of Brick, NJ, daughter, Nancy Belardo and husband, Joseph of South Plainfield, son George Painton, III of South Plainfield, and daughter-in-law Joan Painton of Somerset. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Mary Belardo, Joseph M. Belardo, Jr. (fiancée Jennifer Van Laningham), Patrick Belardo (Beth), James Painton, Dustin Painton, Lisa Secula (Michael), and Laura Painton (fiancé Wes Driver). Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren as well as several extended relatives and friends.
At the request of the Painton Family, services will be privately arranged through McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals in South Plainfield.
Following the funeral service, Eleanor will be burried at Hillside Cemetery,
Scotch Plains.
