Obituary of Manuel Oliveira

Manuel Oliveira, 67, died early Saturday morning, October 15, 2022 at home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Portugal, Manuel immigrated to the United States with his devoted wife, Maria and two daughters in November of 1999. In Portugal, Manuel worked as a fisherman. His profession often took him out to sea for many months at a time. Throughout his life, Manuel never lost the love of fishing.  Once settled in Newark, he worked as a metal processor for Sims Metal Management.

A soccer fan, Manuel belonged to social clubs in the City of Newark where he enjoyed spending his time with the friends he made. He also enjoyed nights sitting with family around the fire pit and being with his grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents; surviving are his wife of 42 years, Maria Silva; two daughters, Liliana Oliveira and her husband Alberto Couto and Rosalia Da Silva and husband Jose Da Silva Jr. and his four siblings, Maria Cunha, Costodia Caravela, Domingos Oliveira and Renata Antunes. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren, Antonio, Isabella, Mason, Victoria and Emily, and nephews and nieces.
