Obituary of Michael D. Texera
South Plainfield, NJ- Michael D. Texera, 83, died February 26, 2023, at Cedar Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born on June 20, 1939, to the late William M. and Lina J. (Giglio) Texera, he was a former resident of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Nigeria before settling in New Jersey in 1984.
Michael graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1961. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. Before his honorable discharge in 1965, he was commissioned in 1962. After completing his military service, Michael joined the South Plainfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In 2002, he retired from Proctor & Gamble, where he worked in Quality Control.
Mike had the unique ability to see the humor in any situation and always relayed that to those around him. Michael is survived by his daughters, Michele Lopez of Wellington, FL; Stephanie Texera and husband John Gunther of Boulder, CO; granddaughters Alexandra and Victoria; brother, Ronald Texera of Medway, MA; sister-in-law, Jean Texera; nieces Beth, Jillian, and Laura; nephews Matthew, Michael, and Jonathan, and several great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, William A. Texera.
Services will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals in South Plainfield at a later date.
