Obituary of Sandy Garofola
South Plainfield – Sandy Garofola, 70, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University – Somerset in Somerville, NJ
Born in Braddock,Pa., Sandy had resided in Pittsburgh and Corning, NY before settling to South Plainfield 40 years ago.
She was employed as a secretary for Flynn and Son Funeral Home in Fords prior to her retirement.
An active member of the South Plainfield American Legion Chamount Post 243 Women’s Auxiliary, Sandy was a familiar face who loved all the friends and relationships that were made over the years. She always enjoyed the time at the post and traveling to the annual Wildwood Convention. Her dedication and volunteering will be forever remembered.
Sandy is predeceased by her husband, Louis Garofola, her second husband, Richard Tarn and her brothers; Charles Gregg Jr. and Barry Gregg.
Surviving is two sons; Kenneth Seibert and his fiancé Shannon Kertes, Kevin Seibert and is wife Ashley and her dear friend, Joe Penyak Sr.
Also surviving are her grandchildren; Kathleen, Kenneth, Gabriel, Cassandra, Seven, George, Kristopher, Ella and a baby boy is expected in April.
Family and friends are invited to join together for visitation on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 3-5 PM in the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
A concluding Funeral Service will take place at 5 PM.
Interment will be held privately on Monday in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown section of North Hanover Township.
